The Emerald Isle, is the largest owned complex (8500 square metres) on the Costa Blanca. Apart from being the local community centre, it is now one of the principal holiday destinations for people from all parts of Europe.
The complex is located in La Florida Orihuela Costa, was purchased by the Moran family in 2002. Previous to this, it was known as the Orinea and operated by a French couple. It had one TV and closed every night at 10pm.
A lot has changed since then, for example:
The existing swimming pools had a new pump house constructed complete with a new crystal filtration system, insuring the pools are pristine at all times.
The existing main bar and function room area were separated by an internal garden. This was removed and roofed over, creating a larger bar and function room.
The function room can accommodate 250 people seated for shows during the winter time and during quieter periods, it can be reduced to a more intimate setting.
There are now 2 projector screens and several other televisions dotted around the bars so we cover all major sporting events as we have guests from many countries and understand that sporting events often clash.
A new children’s play area was completed with Trampoline and bouncy castle, which is supervised, allowing Mom and Dad some free time while visiting in the summer months. We also have an arcade area with air-hockey, pool table and more.
A full menu is available all day until 10pm (we cater for indoor and outdoor dining), so you can relax and enjoy your meal in our pool and garden area or inside.
A large stage was installed to accomodate shows during the summer months of May to October. These shows operate seven nights a week, with professional acts that have appeared at the Benidorm Palace.
One of the principal shows is the tribute band Abba Elite, who are contracted to the Emerald Isle for two nights a week throughout the summer.
All shows are free!!!
Finally, in a private area of the complex, on what was once three tennis courts, the Moran family constructed what is now considered the number one bowls club in Spain, which holds the national championships annually, and has held the European Championships twice. The bowls club has a small bar and sheltered terrace for club members to enjoy.
Seamus, Vera and the Moran family would like to extend a very warm Irish welcome to you and hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable time at the Emerald Isle la Florida. We would also like to invite you to visit our sister site, The Celtic Isle (and Zenia Garden Asian Restaurant), 5 minutes walk from the Zenia Boulevard and directly at the entrance to the famous Saturday Market.
